The new year started off with a fairly self-obsessed viral phenomenon – with absolutely everyone posting 2009 vs 2019 comparison photos, as part of the #10yearchallenge, to show just how much or how little they have changed through the years. In an ongoing photo series that is well into the hundreds, Dutch Photoshop artist Ard Gelinck masterfully manipulates photos of celebrities. Arm in arm with his or her former self in a photo, the celebrities are joined by their younger selves.
Gelinck has created an amazing compilation of photographs depicting celebrities from music, film and television as they appear now, posing with their much younger selves. Among these stars are Freddie Mercury, David Bowie,Elton John Rob Lowe, Tom Hanks, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Phil Collins, Robert De Niro and the Obamas, just to name a few.
His images are often quite convincing since he takes the time to find very good source photos where it appears to be credible that they are posing with each other. He then takes time to carefully match the colors and tones creating the illusion of a portrait actually taken together.
In some cases, decades have passed since the original photos, the comparisons are something really special. Check out more on Instagram!
