Seemingly out of nowhere, Tesla launched a special edition surfboard made in collaboration with Lost Surfboards and Matt “Mayhem” Biolos, the iconic surfboard shaper for several World Surf League Championship athletes.
Elon Musk has developed a good number of fascinating merchandise to promote his companies in recent times: he not too long ago offered a Boring Company branded flame thrower. Now, his electric car company Tesla launched a brand new item: a $1,500 surfboard.
Never to be outdone, the surfboards have been developed in collaboration with none other than renowned surfboard shaper for World Surf League Championship athletes Matt Biolos, founder of the world’s most recognizable surfboard brand Lost Surfboards. The Tesla boards incorporate the business’s sophisticated finishes with Biolos’ signature “Black Dart” patented carbon fiber.
“The Limited Edition Tesla Surfboard features a mix of the same high-quality matte and gloss finishes used on all our cars. The deck is reinforced with light-weight “Black Dart” carbon fiber, inspired by the interiors in our cars, and featuring tonal logos in subtle contrast gloss,” reads Tesla shop’s product page. According to the description on the company’s website, the surfboard can easily fit inside the Model S, X and 3 on either the inside or the outside of the vehicle.
The Tesla surfboards were only released in limited quantities, with merely 200 being created altogether. This limited quantity sold out practically immediately but a few surfboards already have appeared on eBay.
