Bugatti still won’t build a roofless Chiron, but they are creating what might be the next best thing — the Chiron Sky View. The luxury car maker now delivers its Chiron on request with a good square meter of glass in the roof. The “Sky View” option provides a glimpse into the driver’s and front passenger’s seat with two fixed glass inserts, each 65 cm long and 44 cm wide.
The glass roof consists of a newly developed laminated construction with four layers. As a result, for example, unwanted wind noise is reduced and it reflects infrared radiation. To avoid glare, the glass is tinted, UV radiation is filtered out. In addition, driver and passenger have 2.7 centimeters more headroom than in the standard Chiron.
In just 41.96 seconds, the Bugatti Chiron can reach 400 km/h — a world record for manufactured cars. This makes it the world’s fastest glass roof.
Bugatti plans to present the Chiron Sky View at the Monterey Car Week in California at the end of August 2018. There is no official pricing yet, but a Bugatti does not come cheap, they start at around $3 million.
