Luxury Space Hotel Called Aurora Station to Launch in 2021

A hotel with an out-of-this-world scenery out the windows is now taking reservations. A new venture, called Orion Span, seeks to open its “Aurora Station” at the end of 2021 and start taking guests in 2022. Self identified as the “World’s First Luxury Space Hotel,” Aurora Station will provide you with an authentic astronaut experience, that comes with the excitement of zero gravity, extraordinary views of the planet, space farming as well as a functional holodeck.

Since that time Apollo 14 astronaut Alan Shepard shot a golf ball into space from the surface of the moon, eager folks have been really looking forward for space tourism to take off. Even so, the industry lacked funding and the technology but it certainly did not have a lack of interest. But all of these setbacks the past decades have been seemingly overcome, and space tourism might be just within our grasp.

The goal would be to present a reasonable substitute to ISS trips, which seven individuals have visited at the price of $20 million to $40 million each time. Aurora Station will certainly be pricey, but it is built to provide the newest in cutting-edge technology and automation, to guarantee total ease and comfort for its guests. The price of a ticket for a 12-day trip is going to be $9.5 million per person, that is $791,666 per night.

Orion Span isn’t going to be in the rocket business and intends to depend on others to get their guests into orbit. “That will be through partnerships with SpaceX, Blue Origin or a space agency,” says CEO Frank Bunger. Their proposed modular space station can host up to six people at the same time, together with two crew members. During the stay, the visitors can enjoy soaring 200 miles above the Earth’s surface in Low Earth Orbit.

“The premise of Aurora Station is for guests to live, feel, and breath what it’s like to be an astronaut,” says Bunger. “It’s not going to be five-star dining,” he warns. “Fire and gas don’t work the same way in space as they do on Earth.” The plan is that the space hotel will expand over time. As demand from customers grows, Orion Span will launch further segments to connect with the original core outpost.

“Our long-term vision is to sell actual space in those new modules,” he said. “We’re calling that a space condo. So, either for living or subleasing, that’s the future vision here — to create a long-term, sustainable human habitation in LEO [low Earth orbit].”

Should you have $800,000 to spare, you can put a fully refundable deposit on an Aurora Station trip right now. People who fly up will go through a three-month training program, the final part of which will take place aboard the space hotel itself.
