In the lead-up to its April awards ceremony in London, the Sony World Photography Awards has declared the ten winners of the Open Competition categories, along with National Award winners.
Chosen from thousands and thousands of entries from around the world, the winners of the Open competition and National Awards of the 2018 Sony World Photography Awards had been picked by an expert panel. The winning works along with their photographers are genuinely global, with images coming from Australia, Argentina, Cambodia, China, Kenya, Saudi Arabia and beyond.
The final results present an unbelievable range in the style and talent that makes photography an exceptional creative format. “In choosing the winners, the images all had to have something special—whether it be composition, impact, skill, a portrayal of a unique event or informing in a new way,” shared Zelda Cheatle, chair of the Open Competition jury. “Above all else, each winner had to be an exceptional photograph.”
All Open category and National Award winners get the most recent digital imaging equipment from Sony. Furthermore, the winning work is going to be printed in the 2018 Awards’ book. Winners from the Open Competition will now compete for the title of Open Photographer of the Year and will have their work exhibited, together with the National Award winners, at the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition in London from April 20 – May 6, 2018.
