Hublot has always been a purveyor of some of the most eye-catching swiss watches on the market. For the very first time ever, Hublot is creating a watch pretty much completely out of a bright red ceramic. Offering exceptional durability, the red ceramic has been chosen to manufacture a limited-edition of the renowned Big Bang Unico.
This timepiece is centered on that vibrant red ceramic. Hublot states that their red-colored ceramic manufactured by Hublot Research & Development is patented and produced in-house. According to them, what enables the ceramic to remain so vibrant colored is that it is sintered in the new way that sets the ceramic without burning up the added pigment, which would typically dull the color.
The “Big Bang Unico Red Magic” is a 500 piece exclusive edition with a 45mm case and bezel manufactured from the polished red ceramic. The flange, indexes, minute and seconds counters, Arabic numerals and hands all match the hue.
“There is a quote which perfectly illustrates our ongoing desire to push watchmaking, materials, and fusion to the limit. A conviction that nothing is impossible. In the words of Charlie Chaplin: “Let us strive for the impossible. The great achievements throughout history have been the conquest of what seemed the impossible”. Today, with the world’s first vibrantly coloured ceramic, Hublot has once again demonstrated that the impossible really is possible!” said Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.
The watch uses the Unico HUB124 manufacture self-winding chronograph movement, is water-resistant up to 100 metres and has a 72-hour power reserve and the price is 24,900 CHF.
