Have you ever wanted to order pizza at the press of a button? Have you also always wanted pizza-themed footwear? Well, you can now have both of those things all packaged up into one wonderful sneaker: The Pizza Hut Pie Tops II.
Pizza Hut has resurrected its cultural sensation from a year ago called Pie Tops by joining up with renowned sneaker designer, the Shoe Surgeon, on a subsequent iteration of the first-and-only sneaker ever made that orders pizza at the push of a button.
The Pie Tops II, which feature Bluetooth technology, enables its wearers to order pizza by pushing a button on their shoes. The sneakers pair with the owner’s smartphone along with a Pie Tops app for iPhone or Android. Pressing a button found on the tongue of the right shoe will place your pizza order.
“This year, the Pie Tops II were created to showcase our focus on giving customers the best delivery experience while making sure that tournament fans can feed their pizza craving without missing a moment of the action,” said Zipporah Allen, Chief Marketing Officer, Pizza Hut. “It’s called March Madness for a reason. We don’t want anyone to miss a play while answering the door to get their pizza.”
New this year: a button on the tongue of the left shoe capable of pausing live TV which means you will not miss anything whenever your pizza is delivered. DVR receivers from companies including DirecTV, Spectrum, Fios, Xfinity and Dish will support the shoes.
Pizza Hut continues its collaboration with Dominic Chambrone ‘The Shoe Surgeon’ to design the distinctive custom silhouette of Pie Tops II and create two color versions: a red version inspired by the signature red used in the Pizza Hut logo and a wheat version, just about the most popular new hues to sneaker enthusiasts.
The week of March 19, online retail site HBX will offer 50 pairs of the Pie Tops II for sale, but Pizza Hut said pricing won’t be revealed until closer to launch.
