Fujifilm just announced the new X-A5 mirrorless camera, a digital camera body with a XC15-45mm lens kit, the lightest camera-zoom lens combination from the company’s X Series. And the first motorized power zoom lens, the Fujinon XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ was also announced.
Blurring the line between point-and-shoot and SLR, the mirrorless Fujifilm X-A5 Camera is a compact, capable shooter. It features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C image sensor, phase-detection autofocus, 4K video recording, as well as a microphone jack.
The X-A5 will also be featuring an ISO range increase up to 12,800 with the ability to push to 51,200 in expanded sensitivity modes. This will make the X-A5 much more capable in low light than previous X-A models and should keep the X-A5 more in line with its competition in the X-Series and throughout the market.
Video has been a big area of focus for Fujifilm with their latest releases and in the X-A5 they bring 4K video recording capabilities, which will no doubt be a big selling point for those maybe considering the X-A5 as a Youtube camera. You will also get Fujifilm’s latest Bluetooth technology in the X-A5 making getting images off the camera wirelessly easier than ever.
On the back of the camera is a 3-inch, 1.04-million-dot LCD touchscreen that can be tilted to 180 degrees. Other features and specs of the camera include Fuji’s popular Film Simulation Modes, a pop-up flash, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, in-camera RAW processing, a battery life of 450 frames, and a startup time of up to 0.4s.
“The X-A5 packs Fujifilm’s renowned image quality and exciting fun features in a compact, lightweight body,” says Yuji Igarashi, General Manager of the Electronic Imaging Division & Optical Devices Division at FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “We are excited to bring a user-friendly camera that can capture great images, to the market at an affordable price.”
The Fujifilm X-A5 will be available in three synthetic leather colors (silver, brown, and pink) on February 8th, 2018, for $600 bundled with the lens. The lens will also be available for purchase separately starting on March 15th, 2018, with a price tag of $300.
