200km north of the arctic circle, a little three eyed raven, named HBO Nordic, just collaborated with Lapland Hotels SnowVillage. Game of Thrones fans no longer need to dream visiting its mythical kingdoms, the hotel has been transformed into an icy labyrinth dedicated to the popular fantasy franchise.
Spanning over 20,000 meters and crafted from a staggering 20 million kilos of snow and 350,000 kilos of natural ice. Sleep in a luxury ice bed beneath an enormous and terrifyingly detailed white walker! Chill out on the full-sized Ice Throne, ride the dragon-shaped ice slide, or gaze upon carvings of the Braavosi Hall of Faces and a map of the seven kingdoms. The Lapland Hotels SnowVillage hotel has 24 rooms—each uniquely decorated with GoT elements. The rooms are kept at a cool minus five degrees celsius, and it’s recommended for guests to stay for just one night in thermal sleeping bags.
The village also has a an ice chapel where they hold 40 to 50 weddings each year, an ice movie theater showing a film about the making of the village, an ice bar, and an ice restaurant. A number of non-ice buildings make the Village more habitable for people who hate the cold.
“You don’t necessarily need to stay overnight to enjoy the village,” said Jari Porri, the destination manager of Lapland Hotels SnowVillage. “There are plenty of activities here for visitors including an ice sculpture workshop, reindeer rides, as well as husky and snowmobile safaris.” Bookings are only available for stay up to Sunday, April 8, 2018.
