John Stratman created an action-packed animation for Mr Sunday Movies that reimagines a scene from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, where Luke Skywalker battles Kylo Ren in the style of a 16-bit video game.
Love it or hate it, Star Wars: The Last Jedi certainly captured the public’s imagination. Now you can relive one of the movies most epic lightsaber fights in 16 bit resolution. This contains big spoilers for The Last Jedi, obviously.
The video recreates the pinnacle moment in the film where Jedi Master Luke finally comes to the rescue of the fleeing Resistance in a last stand fight against the First Order and goes toe-to-toe with his troubled nephew and killer of his best friend Han Solo.
All of the dialogue from the film appears word for word in speech bubbles, and the 16-bit version of John Williams’ score is as emotionally-stirring as its real-life counterpart. And just as in the Full HD cinema version it culminates in the moment Skywalker passes away. It is a painstakingly recreation of the original with an eye for detail. It is definitely a labour of love this 16-bit short.
