Have you ever wanted to swim in a sea of ice cream sprinkles or lounge on a colourful ice lolly? Well now you can! Los Angeles is now home to the Museum of Ice Cream. The mouth-watering exhibit celebrates all things ice cream.
This confectionery exhibit founded by Maryellis Bunn and Manish Vora is a sweet homage to the popular dessert and was sold out in New York where it was previously based. There are 12 different rooms, each with quirky installations that are seemingly right out the pages of Willy Wonka’s playbook. The museum features 10 ice-cream-centered installations, including favorites like the interactive sprinkle swimming pool — filled with 100 million custom-designed sprinkles — and a melted popsicle jungle.
From the gallery of suspended bananas to rooms of giant melted popsicles, life size gummi bears and a swimming pool full of sprinkles, the whole place seems to be custom designed to be the perfect Instagram backdrop. In addition you can get some interesting ice cream facts from “ice cream fairy” Seth Rogen when you answer the “Ice Cream Hotline” on the retro pink phones that line the walls of the entrance.
The Museum of Ice Cream sadly only has a limited run through July. Following its stay, the museum’s creators hope to take it to other US cities and eventually go international in 2018. And don’t forget: each admission comes with not one, but two complimentary ice creams!
